Kinesiology Taping

I may recommend the application of Kinesiology Tape Either as part of a treatment or if you have a specific injury.
The Kinesiology Tape is designed to mimic the skin’s elasticity so you can still use your full range of motion, with the feeling of support.
I have found Kinesiology Tape works well for two situations:
- To provide support and to increase proprioception. It is used to add extra support to muscles or joints that need it. It can help re-train muscles that have lost function
- To reduce inflammation, post injury surgery. It creates extra subcutaneous space, gently lifting your skin. This creates a microscopic space between your skin and the tissues underneath it, allowing the lymphatic fluid to flow away.
Whilst the scientific research is relatively ‘thin’ regarding Kinesiology Taping, and there are many questions regarding the potential Placebo Effect, I have personally found many of my clients feel they have benefited from its application, and that fulfils my objective as a therapist. I fully support its use for both injury and swelling.
